What is it?

tl;dv is an AI meeting recorder built with a sales lean: it joins Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams calls, transcribes and summarizes them, and — on its higher tiers — pushes the output straight into Salesforce or HubSpot. Where Fireflies and Otter market themselves as general-purpose note-takers, tl;dv’s own marketing talks about deal coaching, objection handling, and CRM sync. That’s the tool’s real identity, and it shapes who should pay for it.

Pricing, as it actually stands

tl;dv runs three paid tiers on top of a free plan. Pro is $29/user/month billed monthly, or $18/user/month billed annually — several pricing trackers report a 40%-off annual promotion active through 2026, so treat $18 as the current rate rather than a permanent list price. Business is $98/user/month monthly, or $59/user/month annually. Enterprise is custom, aimed at 50+ seats with SSO and dedicated support.

For comparison, that Pro price is nearly double Fireflies’s $10/seat annual rate, and Business is roughly six times it. tl;dv is not the budget option in this category — it’s pricing itself against sales tools, not note-taking tools.

The free plan: unlimited recordings, a lifetime catch on AI notes

tl;dv’s headline claim is real: the free plan records and transcribes unlimited meetings in 30+ languages, no credit card required. Compared to Otter’s 300 minutes/month or Notta’s 120, that’s genuinely the most generous recording allowance in the category.

The catch is in the AI notes, and it’s stricter than most reviews make it sound. According to tl;dv’s own help center, your first 10 meetings get full automatic AI summaries — and after that, only the first 10 minutes of any meeting gets AI notes. That’s not a monthly allowance that resets; it’s a lifetime cap of 10 full AI summaries for the life of the account. A few third-party write-ups describe this as “10 per month,” which is incorrect and worth correcting here: for anyone running more than a couple of meetings a week, you’ll burn through it in under two weeks and be back to skimming 10-minute partial notes indefinitely.

A few more free-plan limits worth knowing before you rely on it: recordings move into archived storage after 3 days (unarchiving to watch the video can take up to 90 minutes), the account is capped at 3 months of total storage before deletion, you get 4 clips (non-downloadable) and 5 manual file uploads, and integrations are metered at 20 credits total across Zapier, HubSpot, Salesforce, or Salesloft. None of this is hidden, exactly — it’s documented in tl;dv’s help articles — but none of it is on the pricing page either.

What Pro and Business actually add

Pro removes the AI-notes ceiling (unlimited summaries), keeps recordings permanently instead of archiving/deleting them, and unlocks unlimited downloads, global search, and Zapier-based CRM sync. For a solo user or small team that just wants transcripts and notes without the lifetime cap, that’s the tier to evaluate.

Business is where the sales-tool identity shows up fully: native Salesforce and HubSpot integrations (not just Zapier), AI coaching against sales playbooks (MEDDIC, BANT, SPIN), objection-handling analysis, and higher weekly recording caps. None of that is useful if you don’t run deals through a CRM — you’d be paying $59/seat/month for features you’ll never open.

Complaints worth knowing about

User reports on G2 and Trustpilot raise a few recurring issues. Some describe transcript export not working as advertised — one reviewer reported the “unlimited transcript download” feature failing on a paid plan, with support declining a refund. Others cite slow, unhelpful customer support, including accounts reportedly downgraded without explanation despite continued payment. More specifically, a February 2026 domain migration reportedly locked some paid users out of their accounts for three-plus weeks, with billing continuing during the outage — including, in some accounts, after cancellation was submitted. Balancing that, the more common feedback is positive: reviewers consistently praise transcript speed and accuracy, clear AI summaries, timestamped highlights, and broad language support.

Pros

  • Unlimited free recordings in 30+ languages — no card required
  • Native Salesforce/HubSpot sync on Business is a real time-saver for sales teams
  • Consistently praised for fast, accurate transcription and clear summaries
  • Pro removes the archiving/deletion problem entirely

Cons

  • Free AI summaries cap at 10 for the account's entire lifetime, not monthly
  • Free recordings archive after 3 days and delete after 3 months
  • Pro ($18/mo annual) costs nearly 2x Fireflies for teams that don't need CRM sync
  • Recurring complaints about export bugs and slow support responses

Who should use it, and who shouldn’t

Use it if you’re a sales or customer-success team running meetings through Salesforce or HubSpot — the native CRM sync and playbook coaching on Business are things Fireflies and Otter don’t attempt to do, and that’s worth the premium if it replaces manual note entry into deal records.

Skip it if you just want a note-taker. The free plan’s 10-summary lifetime cap makes it a worse long-term free option than Fireflies, which metrics only storage (not AI summaries) on its free tier, or Fathom, which is free indefinitely for individual use with no comparable AI-notes ceiling. Paying $18/seat/month for Pro only makes sense once you’ve confirmed the CRM features on Business are the reason you’re there — otherwise Fireflies’ $10/seat gets you unlimited AI notes for less. Our meeting note-taker roundup lines up all three head-to-head, and Otter vs. Fireflies covers the two more budget-friendly generalists if CRM sync isn’t a requirement.

Verdict

tl;dv earns its unlimited-recordings claim, and for sales teams already living in Salesforce or HubSpot, the Business tier’s native sync and coaching features are a legitimate reason to pay a premium over Fireflies or Otter. But the free plan’s AI-notes limit is more restrictive than it looks at a glance — a lifetime cap, not a monthly one — and the pricing puts Pro closer to a sales tool than a note-taking tool. If CRM integration isn’t the point of your search, Fireflies gets you further for less.
